The Lab for Language and Cognitive Neuroscience studies language processing and its neurological underpinnings. Main themes are lexical access and all its interfaces, such as morphology, morphosyntaxm syntax and orthographic processing. We are also interested in investigating lexical access and how it interacts with phenomena such as bilingualism, atypical development, which often will require studying various cognitive domains such as attention, memory, emotion and social cognition. We use experimental methodology from the field of psycholinguistics, and we work with EEG, more especifically ERP. Our neurophysiological studies are made possible by our intensive collaboration with the EEG lab at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, of which Marije is also a coordinating member: ACESIN/UFRJ.
Lab coordinator: Marije Soto
Current themes:
•development of open brain surgery language test
• morphosyntactic variation
• morphological processing
• processing of tabu words
• bilingualism and dyslexia
• bilinguism: cognitive interfaces
• orthograhic processing
• language and music
• Brazilian Sign Language
